A groundbreaking new service has been launched solely for the use
of deaf people and those with hearing or speech impairments by West
Yorkshire Police. It enables deaf people to contact the emergency
services from their mobile phones. This is a huge benefit as they
will no longer have to rely on others to report emergencies.
Two-way text conversations are possible via the service which has
been developed by West Yorkshire Police working in partnership with
Leeds City Council and the Leeds Society for Deaf and Blind people
The 999 service number is 07786 200200.
