Suffolk
Fire and Rescue are one of the first authorities in the UK to fit
specially designed smoke alarms for residents of the county. The alarms
come with a flashing light, a sound alert and an under-pillow vibrating
pad.
The RNID have expressed their support for Suffolk as they lead
the way in trying to solve this major problem. 33% of people with
a hearing loss have difficulty waking up to a conventional smoke
alarm and 25% say they would struggle to know if an alarm went off
during the day.
