Skodas
history can be traced back to 1885. This is when two men joined efforts
to make bikes and motorbikes in a business named Laurin & Klement.
The company merged with Skoda Pilsen in 1925. They produced excellent
vehicles.
Skoda, part of Third Reich's economic system during World War
II. The production program is cut back in preparations for wartime
production. Even during these hard times, Skoda introduced another
excellent automobile called the Skoda Superb. After the war there
were more changes and Skoda was renamed AZNP Skoda. It was now a
national enterprise.
Skoda continued to produce successful models throughout the 50s
and 60s. Some of the new models included: Tudor, Spartak,
and Octavia. In the 1960s new technology began to appear in
the West. Skodas own countries industry started to fall behind
others.
The company maintains their leading position only in the eastern
market. Things do not improve much until 1987. This is when Skoda
introduced Favorit their new automobile.
More political changes mean changes in the economy and market again.
Skoda knows they need a foreign partner. The government decided
cooperation with the VW Konzern would be a good idea. And in 1991
Skoda joined VW, Audi and Seat. They became Konzerns fourth
brand.
Skoda then starts to modernize their vehicles. Felicia was produced
and is able to compete in the global market. Many more cars will
follow and be a success including Octavia, Fabia, and koda
Superb.
At Skoda, they provide their customers with products that are reliable
and a good value for the money. They have automobiles with original
designs that are technologically advanced. The Skoda brand incorporates
qualities of creativity, quality and reliability. They will use
these characteristics in producing cars today and into the future.
