History
The Hearing Company is part of the Scrivens Group and has always
been and still remains today, an independent family company built
on solid foundations.
Registered optician and pharmacist Solomon Scriven founded Scrivens
in 1938 in the Midlands. The business grew rapidly at the end of
the second World War and during its expansion in the 1950s,
hearing aid dispensing was also introduced into Scrivens' optical
branches to add another dimension to the services provided. Initially
run separately from the optical service, increased awareness of
hearing problems and a positive shift in society's attitude to hearing
aid wear resulted in hearing care becoming a major and integral
part of their service.
Today, The Hearing Company has a network of over 100 optical and
hearing care branches covering the Midlands, Yorkshire, North West,
East Anglia, the Home Counties and the South Coast. The hearing
care service additionally operates through over 400 partner opticians
and health centres, giving them the largest practice-based network
in the country.
Leading the Industry:
The Hearing Company also maintains a leading voice within the
hearing aid profession.
Director and Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser, Mark Georgevic,
currently sits on the Hearing Aid Council, the governing and regulatory
body for the private Hearing Aid profession. In addition, he is
a Council Member of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists
(BSHAA) which represents Hearing Aid Audiologists throughout Britain.

needs of a successful period of rehabilitation and are therefore
committed to offering a high standard of patient care. All their
hearing tests and unlimited aftercare appointments for life are
offered free to all their customers.
Staff and Training

programmes to maintain the highest standards of patient care. The
Hearing Company also provides fully registered training courses
leading to the qualification of Registered Hearing Aid Dispensers
