The
Scottish rail company, First ScotRail, has recently set up a voluntary
scheme where their staff can learn sign language. Train drivers, ticket
collectors and administration staff can now attend courses that will
enable them to help deaf customers.
The move has been welcomed by the consumer body, Passenger Focus
which represents rail passengers, and by the Royal National Institute
for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People as it improves access to transport
services.
