Scope
looks set to end up £8m in debt by the end of 2005/06 it has
been claimed.
It seems jobs could be lost as a consequence amongst the 4,000 strong
workforce although key front-line positions are not likely to be affected.
Scope is regarded as one of the 'big 7' disability. An income shortfall,
over budget running costs and a pension fund deficit are being blamed.
Scope's in-house staff association (the NWC) says it is concerned
about the situation: "We don't know how many people will be affected
by redundancies," said NWC chairman, Gary Birkenhead.
The NWC has said that it takes some comfort from the assurance that
no frontline staff will lose their jobs but is waiting for detailed
proposals from management as to the exact number of job losses.
