Ryanair
reverses its anti-blind policy
|
The
controversial low-cost airline Ryanair has been forced to change its
policy on blind passengers. Partially sighted passengers will now
not be included in the airline's safety limit of 4 disabled passengers
per flight and will no longer have to advise the airline of their
disability in advance if they are travelling in a party that includes
sighted people. However vision-impaired passengers travelling alone
will remain part of the rule.
This reverse comes after the airline turned away a group of 9 people
from a flight at Stansted and follows a consultation with the National
Council for the Blind of Ireland.
