Care Concepts provides care and support to carers and people with dementia from their base in South Manchester. They provide a unique flexible range of services that can be used in conjunction with each other to meet the needs of both the carer and those cared for.

Care Concepts currently provides:

Long term care Marion Lauder House provides the base for long term nursing care.

Day care Half or full time days including transport and meals in our new build day centre.

Respite care Single or multiple nights are available in our 12 place new build extension.

Assessment care Places available up to 6 weeks to assess long term care needs.

Home based outreach providing a range of home based support services.

Marion Lauder House is situated in South Manchester close to Manchester Airport, with excellent public transport and road links.

They provide care and support to up to 79 people with dementia and nursing needs in 3 different units within the home:

  • respite and assessment care,
  • EMI residential care, and
  • dementia nursing care.

Although the majority of people are over 65, they are able provide care to younger people as well.

They have a team of qualified and experienced nursing staff who are led by their General Manager Hazel Croston. Hazel is an experienced Registered Mental Nurse who has extensive experience in the care of people with dementia.

The team of care staff and support staff ensure the needs of residents are met. Through their hard work they have an excellent reputation in Manchester.

They can provide care to people funded from any Local Authority, as well as people who receive Continuing Care funding from the NHS and privately funded residents. They do not currently ask for a third party top up for Local Authority residents and give each resident a contract that outlines any additional charges for newspapers, chiropody, hairdressing and cigarettes.

Having recognised that carers and people with dementia require flexible support to remain at home they have developed a range of new services to complement the respite and assessment services offered.

They can now provide a flexible package of care which can include:

Day care - Half or full days in their day care unit. Transport and meals are provided and access can be made to the chiropodist and hairdresser who visit, as well as general health check and activities.

Home based - Their home support team now provide more focused outreach services to flexibly meet the assessed needs of carers. This might be practical as well as sitting or outing services.

Access to the services.
As they have developed these services with Manchester City Council, if you live in South Manchester you can access all these services through your social services care manager or alternatively privately through them.

If you live out-with South Manchester you might be able to access these services, however you will have to get agreement from the Local Authority where you live, or pay them privately.

They have now completed and opened their new 12 place respite and assessment unit and can provide flexible lengths of service from one night to 6 weeks depending on needs. All bedrooms are fully en-suite including a shower and all have a flat screen TV. Full nursing services are available 24 hours a day.

The respite and assessment unit is staffed separately from the main home and the team is led by and experienced nurse, Susan Cavanagh
