The Founders of MouseAbility, Richard Hartman and Jamie Berman have strong links with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community through their two pioneering websites: www.deafclicks.com and www.clickhear.org
They were asked to develop a business Directory for all disabilities. After several months of research MouseAbility was launched on 3 May 2005.
MouseAbility identifies businesses and organisations that positively welcome disabled people and ensure that these companies are aware of their responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act.
Through our research we have established that many people feel awkward or even frightened when meeting a disabled person for the first time. This is because they are sometimes afraid to say or do the wrong thing.
To help overcome this problem we have developed an easy to read Disability Awareness Information Pack which we hope will educate people to say or do the right thing!
All the companies listed on MouseAbility have read and understood our information pack with many having already made 'reasonable adjustments' for disabled people.
