About Us

After having been involved with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing market for several years, the founders of Mouseability Richard Hartman and Jamie Berman were asked to develop a business directory for all disabilities and after several months of research Mouseability was launched in May 2005.

Mouseability identifies businesses and organisations that positively welcome disabled people and ensure that these companies are aware of their responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act.

Through their research, they have established that many people feel awkward or even frightened when meeting a disabled person for the first time; this is because people are sometimes afraid to say or do the wrong thing.

To help overcome this problem, Mouseability has developed, in conjunction with the appropriate charities and organisations, an easy to read Disability Awareness Information Pack which they hope will educate people to say or do the right thing!

Many “visitors” to the site are looking for recommended companies that provide products or services, such as Stairlifts, Hearing Aids, Bathing Equipment, Accessible Kitchens, Car Adaptations, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles, Wheelchairs, Mobility Scooters and Motability Advice.

Mouseability also operate a Home Visiting service for the housebound, including a visiting Optician, Doctor, Dentist and Chiropodist

Mouseability has, however, now developed into an information site for everyone, as through their many contacts nationwide, able bodied people also use their Business Services section when looking for companies as diverse as Loss Assessors, Accountants, Solicitors, Car Dealerships, Garages, Insurance Companies, Independent Financial Advisers and even Debt Advice Companies!

We hope you find Mouseability as interesting and informative as we found when putting it all together.
